Well this is going to be a quick one. I’m already two month late writing this. But I’ve come to depend on this blog to help me mark the passing of time, a public diary if you will. So I didn’t want to skip it.
In March I was sent to London, England for work. It was a busy week of meetings but I had a day and a half to do some sight seeing. And for the first time in a long time I had colleagues with me from work, yay for sightseeing friends!
We visited most of the major sites.
Big Ben!

Westminster Abbey.

The Tower of London and Tower Bridge.

This phone booth.

The eye of London (just look at that beautiful English weather).

Stolen stuff in the British Museum.

And we ate lots of pub food (in case you can’t tell from all the beige, that’s fish and chips with mushy peas. yum).

All in all, I would say London didn’t impress me. And it’s funny, I was in London in 1997 as part of a school trip and I struggled to recall any memories of it before I left. I pretty much had no recollection of the city. I had a vague memory of Piccadilly Circus so I insisted we walk there one evening. But standing in the square felt like the first time I’d ever been there. And it would be fair to assume that maybe a few things have changed in 26 years. So maybe that’s it.
And don’t get me wrong, it’s a nice enough city, with big recognizable landmarks (except to be honest, if they hadn’t told me it was Buckingham Palace, I would have never known), it’s clean, and has some great restaurants. There just wasn’t anything that made me excited to go back. But don’t worry, I’ll understand if you don’t feel sorry for me.
