It’s Christmas! Which means it’s time for me to blog about July. Because boy am I behind. But enough about my time management skills…
In July I went to Scotland for a week with my mom and my brother. It was a memorable trip, and the pictures don’t do justice to the beauty of this country. But let me try anyway.
We spent the first three days in Edinburgh. On the first day we toured the city on the hop-on hop-off bus.

The second day we had a bit of rain in the morning, and then it cleared up and we went for a small self-guided walking tour.

And naturally ended up on the royal mile.

Later that day we did a tour of Edinburgh castle. This was a ‘must’ for my brother. I was worried it would be boring like most historical things are. But it was actually kind of interesting! Mostly because we had an excellent guide who was funny and engaging.

See, don’t we look like we’re having fun? (and maybe a little jet-lagged)

The next day we picked up our rental car and headed off to Stirling Castle. The drive to this village was harrowing at times, but worth the near-death experience. I think. Beorn might feel differently.

That evening we arrived in Oban. It was a very charming sea-side town.

We had by far the best fish and chips of the whole trip. Eaten out of a cardboard box while sitting on a bench overlooking the bay. You can’t beat that ambience.

The next day we hit the road for Inverness. We enjoyed some beautiful Scottish scenery along the way.

That evening we arrived at our Airbnb in a small hamlet just outside of Inverness called Ardesier.

It was an adorable town with very friendly inhabitants. It also had a beautiful ocean side path we could walk on every evening.

We did spend a day walking around Inverness, but I don’t have many pictures of that day. On our last day we drove from Ardesier back to Edinburgh, with a stop as the Cardhu distillery.

Quite possibly the most impressive part of this whole trip is that we drove approximately 750 kilometres on ONE TANK OF GAS. Wild.
With a big thank you to my mom for making this trip possible, and to my brother for doing all of the driving, we made memories to last a lifetime.
