In early March I tagged along with Gab on one of her many work trips to Geneva. Unlike her, though, my focus would not be on standards.
Also, George wanted to come.
We landed on Sunday morning and spent the next couple of days leisurely enjoying the city and trying to get over the jet lag. Geneva is a beautiful city.
On Sunday, Gab took to me to the best steak joint in Geneva. The Café de Paris. It was delicious!
Now on to the skiing!
On Tuesday morning I got up, had breakfast, and then headed to the bus station to catch the Chamonix ski bus. I was very excited and the views from the bus didn’t help.
Chamonix-Mont Blanc as a ski area is huge and is broken down into around five different areas all accessible via an excellent municipal bus system (bus fares are included in the ski pass). Because of this, I had decided to spend a day at each of the three main areas.
On Tuesday I went to Brévent.
The views across the valley were stunning.
Having survived Brévent, I headed to La Flégère on Wednesday.
Again, views across the valley were beautiful.
And finally, Grands Montets on Thursday. Unfortunately, the weather had turned, and although the skiing was still great, the visibility suffered.
On the way back to the bus stop on Thursday, I went for a stroll through downtown Chamonix to see the sights.
What a trip! Chamonix is truly a magical place and I feel very fortunate to have gotten three days of fresh snow, two of which with sunshine.
I’m looking forward to going back next year. Right Gab?
The ski hills look great. Good for you Kirby. Hope you go back next year.
